Enjoy a scenic 1 1/2 - 2 hour cruise across Deaths Door Passage where you will see the lighthouses on Plum Island and Pilot Island, the Detroit Harbor entrance light, Washington Island, and Detroit Island. As we circle Plum Island you will also see the historic Coast Guard Station and the Plum Island Range Lights. Learn how ships navigate through Deaths Door and see the site of several shipwrecks at Pilot Island that did not make it. As we head back along the tip of the Peninsula you will see cliffs, caves, and beautiful waterfront homes. As we circle Plum Island you will also see the historic Coast Guard Station, Plum Island Range Lights and the 1857 shipwreck of the "Grape Shot". Many times we see Eagles as there is a nest on Plum Island.
This coastline cruise will take you to the two highest cliffs on the Peninsula, one located at Deaths Door Bluff County Park and the other at Ellison Bluff County Park. These two Parks are the largest County Parks in Door County. Both feature large caves and rugged coastlines. On top of Ellison Bluff is the largest house in Wisconsin and near it is the unique "Cliff House" with it's circular glass floor hanging out over the edge of the cliff. We will also go over the site of a shipwreck from 1888 which you can see from the boat if conditions allow. You will also see Ellison Bay and Gills Rock harbor and beautiful waterfront homes along the scenic coastline and views of Deaths Door Passage and it's many Islands.
See the entire tip of the Peninsula from Deaths Door Bluff County Park on the Bay then all the scenic coastline and beautiful homes across to Northport on Lake Michigan. You will see towering cliffs, caves, a shipwreck site, and the site of historic Indian paintings on the cliffs, views of Plum, Pilot, and Washington Islands. (We run this cruise on days where conditions in Deaths Door are too rough to get to those lighthouses or on special request).
