FAQ

WHERE SHOULD I PARK?

In Sturgeon Bay, we are located outside the Door County Maritime Museum. There is ample parking at the museum or nearby street parking. Our kiosk and dock are situated between the museum and Michigan Street bridge.

In Baileys Harbor, we are located at the Baileys Harbor Town Marina. There are a number of free public parking lots within a block or two, as well as nearby on street parking.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

You are welcome to bring personal items on board for your comfort, including food and beverages. It’s a good idea to dress in layers and bring an extra layer like a sweater, jacket, or even a blanket, as well as hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. It is often much cooler on the water than at the dock!

ARE PETS ALLOWED?

Although we do allow small dogs on a case-by-case basis, provided they are well-behaved, we don't recommend making this your dog's first time on a boat. The captain reserves the right to deny pets on board at the time of tour. Please note there is no guarantee of rescue if an animal goes overboard. Only one dog is allowed per tour, so please call to inquire prior to booking 920-854-4707.

IS THERE A BATHROOM ON BOARD?

Please visit bathrooms on land immediately before departure. Although there is a small bathroom onboard for emergency use, there is no running water!

WHAT KIND OF BOAT WILL I BE ON?

The U.S. Navy originally commissioned our vessels. Navy Liberty Launches were originally used to transport personnel from ship to shore. They were built to be practical, dependable, and safe. The construction design is a 3-part sandwich: fiberglass exterior, thick flotation, and fiberglass interior. Amazingly, these vessels can be filled with water (like a bathtub) and still float! The Navy didn’t want to lose their sailors! Thousands of vessels like ours were built over the decades. After their stint in the Navy, this type of vessel is usually deployed into public transport or into the scenic tour boat industry.

ARE THE BOATS HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE?

Boarding our vessels requires taking 3 steps up off the dock to get over the side of the boat, and then 3 steps to get down into the boat. We have no other special way to board passengers. We are happy to assist you as we are able, but we can only offer limited assistance. The small bathroom onboard is not handicapped accessible.

What is the capacity of your boats?

Our boats are 40 feet long. Although they are Coast Guard approved for 35 passengers, our ideal headcount is closer to 25 to provide our passengers with more elbow room and room to move about the boat.

are tips recommended?

Similar to most tourist areas, it’s expensive to live in Door County, and service workers appreciate your generosity. Our crew is passionate about sharing their love of this beautiful area. Please consider tipping our captain and crew for a job well done. Typical gratuity for this type of activity is $5-$10 per guest. Our crew thanks you!

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

It is our goal for you to fully enjoy an on-water experience during your visit to Door County. However, unforeseen circumstances, rain, and especially wind can cause tours to be cancelled.

In the event of a cancellation, we will do our best to reschedule your excursion for a suitable time. If you are unavailable to reschedule, we will issue a gift card for the cost of your trip that never expires, or offer a refund.

Please bear in mind that last-minute cancellations can be very costly, so we ask that customer cancellations be made at least 24 hours before your scheduled trip.

Cancellations made by no-call, no-show, or less than 24 hours notice are subject to the total reservation cost and may not be refunded, rescheduled, or credited with a gift card.

We reserve the right to cancel any trip at any time (due to unsafe conditions, unforeseen circumstances, etc.).
